The Arc of Freedom

A three-part combination of in-person events at intown Atlanta locations

3/29 - Shabbat morning 10 - 11:30 AM

The 49 days between the 2nd night of Passover and Shavuot offer special opportunity for inner growth and reflection. Originally an agricultural observance, counting the Omer marks the transition from the barley harvest (which begins at Passover) to the wheat harvest (around Shavuot). Over the years, counting has taken on new meaning as we link the journey from slavery to freedom to receiving the Torah, wisdom. Just as the preparation for Passover encourages us to “clear the hametz” and rid your house of any leavened grain, so too does it offer opportunity to clear our “spiritual hametz,” the things that stand in the way of personal growth. As we begin our journey as free people, counting the Omer offers a daily reflection and a chance to set some personal goals. Join us for a morning Shabbat service where we gather for reflection and intention setting. Our “text study” will be exploring different approaches and tools for counting. Seeds will be available for those who want to plant literal seeds.

5/15 Lag B’Omer Evening

The 33rd day of the Omer is a pause in the solemnity of the counting and a day to celebrate. While there are many interpretations, we are choosing to gather around a bonfire in community for storytelling and music making!

6/1 or 6/2 Shavuot

Celebrating the journey! We come together as free people to share our own “first fruits” of wisdom and our experiences tending to the seeds of our hearts and hands.

Registration opening soon. All sessions in Atlanta.

Testimonials

The backside of 2 women who are looking at an altar covered with a red tablecloth and candles

McKenzie’s magic is in her creativity and how she holds space for everyone to participate in their own way. She thought of every little detail to make th event special…Everyone left the evening feeling grounded and part of something larger than themselves and my daughter felt extraordinarily loved and supported.”

“I will never forget the power of my conversion thanks to the power of McKenzie’s skills. Her intuitive, artistic way of creating, together with her deep understanding of Jewish ritual and tradition, birthed an experience far beyond what I could have imagined. McKenzie saw the inherent majesty and meaning in the conversion process and made it not only visible, but embodied. We became an ecstatic bunch of of women laughing and singing together in such a simcha!”

-Amy L from her conversion to Judaism ceremony

I appreciate that you encourage us to be real, and not pretend that everything and everyone in our lives are just great.

I love that we are encouraged to go deep and not just stay on the surface.

I love how you share your own stuff and allow yourself to be vulnerable.

I love how you encourage imperfection without apology.

I love how you create a safe space for us to process our fears, hopes and dreams.

I love how you respect yourself and others with compassion.

I love how you encourage our creativity.

For most of my life I created spaces for other people to make art but never made space for my own. I finally prioritized my art making around 2015. Initially my art provided comfort and a creative outlet but then! I went all in and art making became central to both my spiritual practice and my coping mechanisms. Art helped me make sense of the political environment, got me through Covid and the sudden death of my mother. I realized that my own experiences could benefit others and I started offering art making experiences and teaching art at various gatherings. It’s been full steam ahead ever since!

I have turned some of my work into products and most of it is available for purchase; both originals as well as prints. See something you love? Email me and we can get you a print.
